Was pulled over by an officer for having an unlicensed vehicle (admittedly, circumstances meant I had inadvertently overlooked renewing). He took my plates and informed me I couldn't drive except to renew my blue slip at a service statio . Being a Saturday, nowhere is open until Monday. Having mentioned this and asking what options there were, he just proceeded to reiterate I couldn't drive. No alternatives, no suggestions. I asked then if he could escort me home so my car, parked without plates on a main road in a bus bay, wouldn't be vandalised over the next 3 days before I could get it in for the blue slip. He said no, and proceeded to leave as I called out my next question which was how much the fine would be.

Working in healthcare, if I was to give my patient a diagnosis and a single unrealistic treatment option this would be hugely unacceptable. I don't see why a) he was so unhelpful and b) so rude as to just leave without answering my valid questions. Maybe he just had to hit his quota of seatbelt fines? For me (as someone who has after 10yrs of driving never lost a single demerit point), and sees dangerous/terrible/probable drink driving on a daily basis, I really feel that this service missed the mark today in its provision of justice/information.
